Features of the HSV controller include:
- Operator control panel (OCP) for easy operation
- Two 2Gb/s Fibre Channel switch fabric host ports (HSV100, HSV110, and HSV200)
- Four 2Gb/s Fibre Channel switch fabric host ports (HSV210)
- Two 2Gb/s Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) device ports (HSV100, HSV110, and HSV200)
- Four 2Gb/s Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL) device ports (HSV210,)
- One 2Gb/s Fibre Channel cache mirroring port (HSV100 and HSV110)
- Two 2Gb/s Fibre Channel cache mirroring ports (HSV200 and HSV210)
- 1GB cache per controller, mirrored, with battery backup (HSV100 and HSV110)
- 2GB cache per controller, mirrored, with battery backup (HSV200 and HSV210)
- Field replaceable units (FRUs)

Features of controller software include:
- Updates are distributed on the Web.
- HP Business Copy EVA and HP Continuous Access EVA features are enabled by software license keys.
- License keys are managed through HP Command View EVA.

The cache options consist of the following:
+ Write-back modes
• Mirrored
• Nonmirrored (When using the nonmirrored mode, performance impoves but it may not provide failover.)
+ Read modes
• Read ahead cache/adaptive cache
• No read cache
Batteries protect half of the controller cache memory.
+ The protected portion is where write-back data is stored.
+ Read data is not protected.
+ Virtual disk cache mirroring is enabled or disabled on a per-unit basis.

Disk drive enclosures

The EMU performs the following functions:
+ Displays the enclosure number, based on the enclosure address bus (EAB) location
+ Displays the assigned bay 1 loop ID
+ Detects, reports, records, and displays errors
   • Blowers and power supplies
   • Drives (insertion, removal, failure, bypass)
   • EMU and enclosure
   • I/O modules and transceivers
